Out Of The Kiln Studio and Gift Shop
Out of the Kiln provides you with a unique shopping experience in a "working studio" that offers artistic kiln fired products created from earth and fire and the opportunity to find that special gift in our unique gift shop. Our line of pottery and glass works are functional and decorative wares for home, garden, and personal adornment. Each piece is handmade by skilled artisans. We can customize and make an original piece of art just for you. We sell locally in the historical district of Apex, NC or by phone at (919) 363-2993. Store hours are 10 AM till 6 PM Monday through Thursday, 10 AM till 9 PM Friday and Saturday. We are closed on Sunday.

About Us ~
Out Of The Kiln, Inc. was really
an expansion of our pottery line called Back2Back Pottery. Originally, Back2Back was named because we
are a husband and wife team where Bob threw on the wheel, and Bev glazed
– thus we worked back to back. It was our collaborative works of art that
really peeked our interest integrating other art forms to our pottery. We enjoy experimenting – We join earth and
fire in a number of disciplines to create unique pieces of art. We are a working studio and retail shop, and
located in the historical district of Apex, NC near the depot. We chose our location as we are advocates of
family owned businesses and the vitality of historical downtowns.

Our works include: Wheel thrown and
slab pottery. Enameled Glass on
Metal, Glass Fusing and Lampworked
Beads. We use a number of firing
methods including Raku, Sagger, Horse Hair, Wood Fired, and traditional high and low fire methods.
Each piece of pottery and glasswork
is unique – they are handmade individual works of art ~ not production
work. We create works of art in
single form, and love to integrate other natural elements into the finished
ware. Some of our pottery is adorned
with enameled glass on metal, copper and silver and lampworked glass.
We have also partnered with some
wonderful artists across the country and have added their arts to our
studio’s collection. Together
they compliment each another. Works
include art glass, fused glass, stained glass, metal art and Raku pottery.
